Research Associate III – Cell Bioprocessing

New Age Meats is a fast-growing Berkeley startup developing cell-cultured meat. We create delicious meat made without animal slaughter – healthier for humans, animals, and the planet.

We’re expanding our cell engineering team, and are looking to hire multiple Scientists to assist in cell line development and media optimization, including platform designing.

These positions will focus on establishing and maintaining animal cell lines, performing and creating molecular and cell biology experiments and in vitro cell assays.

QUALIFICATIONS: Completed a BS/BA or MS in molecular biology, cellular biology, or a similar field; 3+ years of laboratory experience in mammalian cell culture+ years of laboratory experience in mammalian cell culture.


  • High throughput screening using bioreactors or shake flask systems
  • Mammalian cell culture and working in BSL2 environments
  • Stem cell work including iPSCs and ESCs 
  • Media formulation and optimization
  • Adipogenic differentiation of stem cells
  • Knowledge and experience with molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA Extraction, PCR, Gel Electrophoresis) 
  • Literature research and experimental design
  • Cell-based assay design
  • SOP writing and validation 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple assignments/tasks
  • Keeping a laboratory notebook and research documentation
  • Working independently in a fast-paced research environment
  • Strong communication (oral and written) skills and attention to detail
  • Mentoring junior scientists and researchers 
  • Cell banking 
  • Basic data analysis like Excel, JMP, etc.
